# Sui Gas Bill Calculation in Pakistan

Sui gas bill calculation is not simple as reading on meter is in cubic meters (m3) while bill is calculated on the basis of MMBTU (one million British Thermal Unit) so when you see your gas bill and want to compare it with meter readings, you found yourself in trouble as it is not as simple as electricity bill calculation is. People are generally curious to read gas bill and they also ask about in which system of units gas bill is charged. In this case we need a gas bill calculator or at least a gas bill calculation formula to convert gas units from cubic meters to MMBTU and then apply gas tariff to calculate the bill.

People, who have complaints of extra gas bills than they consumed, can verify their bill with this step by step easy method.

## How to Calculate Sui Gas Bill in Pakistan?

**1.**Black digits on sui gas meter show gas consumed in cubic meters (m3). Subtract previous reading from current reading to get current month's consumed units.

Current reading - Previous reading = Monthly units

e.g. 05532-05419=113 cubic meter

**2.**Divide cubic meters to 100 to get monthly gas reading in cubic hectometers (Hm3).

e.g. 113/100=1.13 Hm3

**3.**GCV is given on gas bill (for example it is 933 in this case). Now to calculate MMBTU, you have to multiply this GCV to consumed units in Hm3 and divide by 281.7358.

e.g. (1.13 x 933)/281.7358 = 3.7420 MMBTU

**4.**Now it is the final step to get gas bill. Multiply consumed gas in MMBTU to respective slab rate.

SNGPL has defined various slabs to fix bill for domestic consumers. Various other amounts e.g. meter rent, GST etc. also add in the final bill.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) are two different natural gas supply companies in Pakistan.

You should also keep in mind that there are 7 different slabs for rates; minimum rate for less consumption and maximum rate for higher consumption. For example if your monthly consumption is 1HM3 in a month then you will be charged at a flat rate of Rs. 127 per MMBTU. And if your monthly consumption is more than 5HM3 then you will be charged at a rate of Rs.1460 per MMBTU. For more details, please look at following table.

I hope now you can easily calculate your gas bill.

What is GCV? And who decide the GCV value in the bills? Moremore, peoples are encourge to calculate there bills as per given formula becoz sngpl charged around 500 rs more than actual consumtion fraudly by wring calulation value.

ReplyDeleteGCV means Gross Calorific Value. It is given on the bill. Moreover this post is just a guideline for calculating the bill and it is not final as SNGPL and SSGPL companies are authorized to calculate bills.
