Telenor has started free 3G internet services in four big cities of Pakistan before proper commercial launch of the 3G network.

Telenor's Chief Marketing Officer, Irfan Wahab Khan has said yesterday that Telenor offers free 3G services in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and it will be commercially launched after getting the license. He also said that their 3G network and infrastructure is ready. He further said that Telenor is already providing 3G services in 11 other countries so on the basis of their experience they will provide 3G services to their prepaid and postpaid customers on reasonable rates.

All Telenor SIMs are 3G enabled and customers can start using this new service. All you have to do is to dial *7799# to check that whether you are in the coverage area of Telenor 3G or not. You will get a confirmation message saying “aap ka 3G area check kiya ja raha hai. Aap ko jald jawaab mosool ho jaye ga”. After a few moments, you will receive another SMS informing you of the availability of 3G services in your area. If the service is on, it will say “Aap k ilaqay mein 3G service ON hai. 3G service haasil kerne k liye 3G phone hona zaroori hai.” If you are in the coverage area with a suitable smartphone, you can start using high-speed internet for uninterrupted video calls, video streaming and amazing browsing speeds.
