Mobile Companies to Charge 10paisa+tax Call Setup Charges

Mobilink, Telenor, Ufone, Zong and Warid have started to charge 10 paisa + tax extra for each and every call made by their customers. All 5 mobile companies have imposed call setup charges on every prepaid customer for all packages, voice bundles, LBC bundles or free calls. This fee is first of its kind in the regional and global telecom market. There is no such example in the whole world. Subscribers are very upset due to this type of unjustified charges.

Ufone

Dear Customers: Effective from 25th December 2013, a tariff increase of 10paisa+tax per call will be applicable on all PrePaid and Uth Pack local, nationwide and international calls and voice packages, including the offers, discounted rates and bundled offers made available there in.

Mobilink

Dear Mobilink Customers: Effective 28th December, a call setup fee of 10 paisa + tax will be charged on all calls including discounted calls. The existing call setup fee of 15 paisa + tax on all local call base rates will be reduced to 10 paisa + tax as well. 

Telenor

Dear Customers, Call setup charges of 10 paisa + tax will be deducted on every charged, free or bundle call from 30th December 2013. 

Zong

Dear customer! A call setup fee of 10 paisa would be charged on every outgoing call from 28th December 2013.

Update (01 January 2014): 

PTA has directed all mobile phone operators to immediately stop recently imposed call setup charges.
