Sir Charles James Lyall, a Governor of Punjab during British rule, built this city and named it after his own name as Lyall Pur. It was renamed by Government of Pakistan as Faisalabad on the name of Saudi King Shah Faisal.

This city was built on the name of a person of Abbassi royal family, Nawab Rahim Yar Khan.

This city was of Sahi family so called as Sahiwal. English called this city, Mintgumri on the name of a British Governor of Punjab. President Ayub Khan once again gave its old name of Sahiwal in 1966.

Raja Sialkot established this city in about 2000 B.C. It got the name of Sialkot during British Government in Indo  Pak.

Sanhi Jatt came here in 1365 and gave it the name of Khan Pur. Later on, Gujjar came here from Amritsar and gave it the name of Gujranwala.

Sheikhu was the nickname of Noor ul Din Saleem Jahangir, son of King Akbar. This city was established on the name of Jahangir Sheikhu.

This city was also named on the name of Nawab Bahawal and in the past, it was also part of Bahawalpur State.

Muzaffar Garh

Nawab Muzaffar Khan, Ruler of Multan built this city. Its name was Khan Garh until 1880. British gave it the name of Muzaffar Garh.

  1. pano akil. Pano was the name of a girl and akil was the name of a boy. Akil khan dharejo. It was the foll story of sindhi culure. Due to this city got its name pano akil.
