Revisiting the Chapter of Osmanistan

Osmanistan Map
Most people who are familiar with the history of Pakistan and Muslims in the Indian Subcontinent must have read or heard about Osmanistan. A little revisit to history’s earlier chapters would remind us that the Princely State of Hyderabad was to be Osmanistan had it succeeded in joining Pakistan or gained a separate statehood. It was a name of the place purposed by none rather than Chaudhary Rahmat Ali, the name-giver of Pakistan. He proposed the idea of dividing the Muslim states into Pakistan, Bangalistan and Osmanistan.

Regardless of who proposed the idea, the British plan of division was adopted and the history was to unfold in a manner where Osmanistan remained only a proposed name and nothing more than this. Surrounded by India on all sides, on September 13, 1948, under Operation Polo – so named because at the time Hyderabad was the place having 17 polo grounds – this Princely state became what it is today with its territories distributed amongst the Indian states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The Hyderabad in India that we know today is the capital of Andhra Pradesh and the country’s 4th largest city. It is sometimes known as the City of Pearls as it was once a global center for trade in diamond and pearls. Now, it is recognized more for its information technology industry and the new identity has taken over its appellation as Genome Valley of India. The city is however imprinted with historic and cultural marks of Muslims all over that allude to its real origin.

History of Pakistan

History of Pakistan

With the Blessings of Almighty Allah, Pakistan got independence from British Government in the holy month of Ramadan (14 August, 1947).

Early Civilization
History of this region is very old, about 50 thousand years to 2 million years old. Several great civilizations born and destroyed e.g. Mehr Garh Culture (7000~2800BC), Indus Valley Civilization (3300~1750BC), Vedic Civilization (2000~600BC), Gandhara Civilization (200BC~1000AD) etc
Alexander the Great invaded this region in 327 BC.

Islam in Sub-Continent
Although light of Islam came in this region in very early stages of Islam. Later on Muhammad bin Qasim bring Islam with him when he attacked on Raja Dahir of Sindh. Muslim Sufis and Saints played a very important and vital role to spread Islam in this region.
Several Muslim Rulers ruled over this region, Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi, Mamluk, Khilji, Tughlaq, Lodhi and Mughal are few of them.

Mughal Empire
In 1526, Babur (a descendant of Timur) founded the Mughal Empire, covering modern day Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. East India Company came here to do business here. Through this company British government take full control of whole sub-continent with help of some local rulers in 1857.

Independence of Pakistan
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Chaudhry Rehmat Ali Khan, Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and many others are the heroes of Freedom Movement of Pakistan. All India Muslim League was founded in 1906. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan gave the wisdom and education to Muslims, Allama Iqbal floated the concept of a separate nation for Muslims in 1930, Chaudhry Rehmat Ali published PAKISTAN as the name of new country in the pamphlet “Now or Never” on 28 January 1933. Pakistan Resolution was passed in a general session of All India Muslim League at Lahore on 23 March, 1940.
People of Pakistan got their country in the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam on 14 August, 1947.

Separation of Bangladesh
Pakistan was formed in the form of East Pakistan and West Pakistan in 1947. After a civil war, East Pakistan became the independent state of Bangladesh in 1971. Indian government helped Bengalis to create violence in Bengal.

Pakistan after Independence
At the time of freedom, India hoped that this new country will not survive for long time. But Pakistan is present on the world map with glory and esteem. Although Pakistan faced three Marshal Laws and many other hard times. India has fought three wars with Pakistan. Freedom of Kashmir and control over Siachin are also big issues. But it is the matter of fact that as a nation, we have got many glorious successes in every field, Science and Technology, Politics, Military, Education, International Relations, Economy Infrastructure etc with limited resources but still much to do for development and to make the life of a common person more comfortable.

Budget of Pakistan - 2010 ~ 2011

Government of Pakistan will announce its federal fiscal budget for year 2010~2011 on 05 June 2010.

People of Pakistan wish that this budget should be formed in such a way that it can lessen their misseries and it should also heal the problems of a commoner due to current and continuous price inflation. Let see that how much expectations of common Pakistanis will be fulfilled by this budget.

We appeal to Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Finance Department of Pakistan to make this budget pro-poor and public friendly. This budget should not impose any new taxes in one or other formes however it should give some subsidies to poor people of pakistanis and especially salaried persons. It should give some relief to poor.

What are your comments?
What are your suggestions?
What do you expect from Budget 2011?

New Islamabad Airport NIIA - Land Acquired

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said on Wednesday it has already acquired physical control of the entire land purchased for the New Islamabad International Airport project and completed the fencing around it.

“Not even a single inch of the land is under the possession of private parties,” CAA spokesman Pervez George told The News. Asked as to why the land remained under the illegal occupation of the private parties since 1985 despite the CAA having paid the price for 3,250 kanals of land, the CAA spokesman repeated his earlier stance, saying: “We can assure you that the entire land has already been taken over by the CAA.”

Much before acquiring additional land of 345 kanals in Chak Fattu for the construction of the New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) through a real estate agent at inflated prices, President Musharraf could not fulfil his desire to inaugurate the project in January 2004 as the already acquired land of 3,250 kanals was still not in the physical possession of the CAA despite the fact that it had already paid the entire land price.

This revelation has been made by the chairman of the purchase committee of the CAA Brig (R) Pervez Nawaz Bashir in his statement recorded before the Board of Inquiry (BoI), constituted by the Ministry of Defence to probe the purchase of 345 kanals additional land in August 2006 by the CAA through a real estate agent at inflated prices.

Therefore, Brig Pervez Nawaz says in his statement, the groundbreaking ceremony of the NIIA, which was scheduled for January 2004 on the desire of Musharraf, had to be postponed. The case has already been taken up before the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Similar views were also expressed by the former Secretary Defence Lt Gen (R) Tariq Waseem Ghazi in his written reply before the BoI.

Although Musharraf’s earnest desire to perform the groundbreaking ceremony of the NIIA did materialise two years later in August 2006, it led to a controversy when 345 kanals additional land was purchased through a middleman for the same project. In a subsequent probe conducted by the BoI had concluded that it was actually Musharraf’s desire to perform the groundbreaking ceremony at the earliest that eventually led to a speedy buying of the additional land at a rate which later became controversial.

PPC Pay and Pension Commission Pakistan 2010- Hopes

What are your hopes from PPC? If you are asked, what will be your recommendations/ Suggestions? How much increase do you wish in the salary package or wages? What steps government of Pakistan should take to eliminate the effect of current price hiking in Pakistan?

Please write your suggestions and recommendation for Pay and Pension Commission of Pakistan.

“Are all government employees equal in the eye of Government Authorities and Policy Makers?” is a question which is being asked by every government official. It is also being reported through some media personnel that PPC recommendations will not be implemented before Federal Budget 2010. Government has recently doubled the salaries of some departments while others are living hand to mouth. Some clerical and non-productive staff is getting high salaries and ranks. While ironically the productive and most important manpower of Pakistan is being neglected. I think that keeping in mind the current inflation, government of Pakistan should increase the salaries of Government Officials to 100%. Not only the government employees but a clear policy should be announced for the private employees and it should be implemented by force.
Moreover besides increasing the salaries, government should also make a clear career policy for all staff and officers of all government employees. Benefits, allowances and facilities should also increase so that the brain drain from Pakistan may be stop.
Write your view or comments about PPC in the given below comments box.

Note: This blog has not any link or relationship to PPC. However we are only providing a platform to discuss this issue in detail.

Pay and Pension Commission recommends up to 70% pay raise

ISLAMABAD: The Pay and Pension Commission (PPC) has decided to recommend the government increase the salaries of its employees by 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% or 70% with effect from July 1, 2010, a senior official at the Ministry of Finance told Daily Times on Thursday.

The PPC’s recommendations would be implemented from the next fiscal year 2010-11 and it would be officially announced at the time of the annunciation of the 2010-11 budget on May 15, 2010, the official said.

The PPC, headed by former State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor Dr Ishrat Hussain, is expected to conclude its deliberations on the pay and pension reforms today (Friday). The commission would be submitting its recommendations to the government before the March 23, 2010 deadline issued by the government in this regard.

The conveyance allowance for employees from BS 1 to 16 is being recommended at Rs 2,800 or Rs 3,000, keeping in view the unprecedented increase in public transport fares. This conveyance allowance would be recommended at Rs 5,000 for the officers who are not entitled to an official transport facility.

The medical allowance for the employees from BS 1 to 16 would be probably increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 per month.

The official said that under the pension reforms for the next fiscal year, the PPC will most likely recommend a 25 percent increase in the pensions for the government employees who retired before June 30, 1997. The PPC would most likely recommend a 20-percent increase for those government employees who retired on or after July 1, 1997, he added.

Nawab Akbar Bugti Death - Secret Revealed

Balochistan High Court has directed Police Station Dera Bugti to register an FIR against former Presedent Pervez Musharaf, former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Former Interior Minister Aftab ahmed Sher Pao and others in the case of the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti. The court issued the directives on the petition of Nawab Jamil Akbar Bugti, son of Akbar Bugti.

The court however observed that currently no FIR can be registered against Governor NWFP Owais Ahmed Ghani under article 248 as long as he enjoys a constitutional post.
Akbar Bugti was killed in a military operation in the Taratani cave of Kohlu district in August 2006. The counsel for the petitioner Hadi Shakeel Advocate said the three year delay in approaching the court was caused by the immunity Musharraf enjoyed being head of state.

The differences between Akbar Bugti and Pervez Musharraf developed after the Dr Shazia rape incident in 2005. Akbar Bugti had left Dera Bugti and went into the mountains where he was eventually killed during a military operation.
