BISP - Benazir Income Support Program

Federal Government of Pakistan gives cash grant of Rs.1000 per month to poor and needy families in all provinces and territories of Pakistan; Punjab, KPK, Sindh, Baluchistan, Azad Jammu Kashmir, FATA and ICT (Islamabad Capital Territory). 

Benazir ATM Smart Card

Benazir ATM Smart Cards are being issued to facilitate "Benazir Income Support Program Beneficiaries". Benazir Smart Cards will take place of previous method of distributing money via Money Order by Postal Service. These smart cards are being dispatched through various banks in all over Pakistan. Benazir Smart Cards Distribution Centres are established at Tehsil Level in more than 120 districts of Pakistan. Previously these cards were launched as pilot project only in few districts of Pakistan.

This new technology is adopted due to complaints in delivery mechanism of BISP benefits to beneficiaries. It is hoped that this new technology will make this program more transparent and accessible.

Benazir Card can be obtained from your nearest centre by showing your CNIC card and letter issued by BISP. These cards are free of cost so never give any money or fees to get ATM card. Also never disclose your 4 digit PIN Code to anyone.

BSC (Benazir Smart Cards) are planned to be used not only for cash grants but also for other benefits of Benazir Income Support Program like Health Insurance.

BISP - An Overview

Benazir Income Support Program was started by Federal Government of Pakistan in 2008 with an initial budget of Rs. 34 billion. This program was mainly initiated focusing millions of families living below the poverty line. These poor enrolled families get Rs.1000 per month from government as income support.

Waseela-e-Rozgar

Waseela-e-Rozgar is a subsidiary program of BISP (Benazir Income Support Program). Females of poor families or their nominee will get Free Technical/ Vocational Education with monthly stipend. Currently per month allocation per nominee is set at Rs.6000 from which Rs.2000 will be given in cash to the participants. Expenditures of accommodation (if applicable), study material and other monthly expenditures will be provided by government from remaining Rs.4000. 

Currently courses of 4 week, 3-6 months and one year are being offered while in future 2 years diploma will also be offered.

Governor Punjab Salman Taseer Assassinated in Islamabad – News

Governor Punjab Salman Taseer is assassinated in Islamabad near Kohsar Market. One of his guards shot him with gun firing. Murderers name is Mumtaz Qadri, according to News Channels. He belongs to Elite Force. 9 bullets are fired at Governor Punjab SalmanTaseer. Salman Taseer was admitted in Poly Clinic’ Emergency but his life could not be saved. 6 Guards including Qadri has been arrested by Islamabad Police, Kohsar Police Station. Forensic Evidences and Crime Scene are being taken by concerned Security Agencies.

The killing of Salman Taseer is the most high-profile assassination of a political figure in Pakistan since the assaination of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto in December of 2007.
Governor Punjab Salman Taseer met with Qamar Zaman Kaira last time today. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan is informed during a meeting. Asif Ali Zardari terminated all his current activities after this incident.

It is being reported by News Channels that Governor Punjab is killed due to his statements about Tauheen-e-Risalat Act of Pakistan, as said by the assassin.
