How to Stop Unwanted Calls and SMS - Block Spamming, Telemarketing, Obnoxious, Unknown Calls

In a recent public notice, PTA has shown the way how to stop unwanted calls and SMS including telemarketing communication, spamming/ unsolicited communication, obnoxious and unknown calls, and SMSs. 

Unwanted messages and calls can be disruptive, but there are steps you can take to stop or minimize them.


Block Telemarketing Communication

Register your number on Do Not Call Register (DNCR).
Type 'reg' and SMS to 3627
Contact service provider, if the problem still persists.
To allow telemarketing communications again, type 'unreg' and send to 3627.

Block Spamming/ Unsolicited Communication

Type spammer's cell number, give a space, paste the received message and SMS to 9000. SMS charges of 10 paisa (inclusive of taxes) apply for each SMS to prevent abuse of the facility.

Block Obnoxious/ Unwanted Calls

Dial *420# (for Jazz, Telenor and Ufone subscribers) or 420 (for Zong subscribers). For charges please contact the concerned service provider.

Remember to never give out your personal information such as account numbers, passwords or any other information in response to unknown/ unexpected calls and SMSs or if you are at all suspicious.

How to Report to PTA 

Report fraud SMS/ calls to your service provider for blocking. If no response is received from the service provider, report to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) by dialing 0800-55055 or visit https://complaint.pta.gov.pk/RegisterComplaint.aspx
