How to get M-Tag for Motorways


What is M-Tag?

M-Tag is a pre-paid Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) that is installed at the top right corner of the front windscreen of a vehicle. There are scanners installed on the motorways’ toll plazas to scan the passing through vehicles. These scanners read M-tags on the vehicles as they pass through it and the applicable tax will be deducted automatically. M-tag system is being managed by FWO (Frontier Works Organization). M-Tag system has replaced earlier E-Tag System which was being managed by NADRA.

M Tag is mandatory for every vehicle traveling on any motorway and no vehicle can run on motorways after June 2019. Its mean, if your vehicle doesn’t have an M-Tag ID, you will not be allowed to enter on motorways. So it is very important to get your M-tag to avoid any difficulty on Motorways. How to get M-Tag Registration for Motorways in Pakistan

The process of M-Tag registration is very easy; simply visit M-Tag Issuance Booths on your nearest Motorways Toll plaza. M tag is issued free of cost and take only about 3 minutes to get m-tagged your vehicle.
Don’t forget to take the following documents with you when you are going for M Tag Registration
Your vehicle’s registration book
Your original CNIC
You will also be asked your mobile number

Although the issuance of a tag is free but you must recharge it before using it.

How to Replace M-Tag?

If damaged, the chip can be replaced free of cost.

How to Recharge M-Tag?

There are multiple methods for recharging your M-Tag motorway:
Scratch Cards - You can recharge your m tag through scratch cards which are available at all service areas of the Motorways as well as customer care center on entering and exit points of Motorway. These scratch cards are available in values of Rs. 200, 500, 1000, 2000, and 3000.
To recharge through scratch cards, simply send an SMS to 9909 with the scratch card number M-Tag Motorway ID.

Jazz Cash

To recharge your m-tag online, simply use Jazz Cash wallet on your mobile phone. You can also recharge your m-tag by visiting a jazz cash retailer.

Motorways Website

You can also recharge through FWO Smart Motorways official website. It supports Jazz Cash, Visa and Mastercard payments.

M-Tag Motorway App  

There are multiple options available for recharge in the Smart Motorway Mobile application. 
This app is available on both Android and Apple stores.

Debit and Credit Cards

M Tag can also be recharged using Credit/Debit cards through Smart Motorway application and through the motorways website.

M-Tag Balance Check

Whenever you cross a motorway's toll plaza, you will be notified of your remaining balance via an SMS.

Balance Expiry

There is no balance expiry date, you can use it any time.

Minimum Balance Requirement

There is no minimum balance requirement however you will need to recharge it before entry to motorways.

SMS Alerts

SMS alerts will be sent on the mobile number which you have given at the time of registration regarding toll tax transactions, violation, weather, operational information and other alerts.

E-Chalan

E-Chalans may also be deducted from the available balance.
