Many people have registered at "FBR's iris system" and have been filling their income tax returns online from many years while many more are registering for online tax returns every year. So the issue is how to verify either your name is active or inactive in the Active Taxpayers List (ATL). It becomes more important when you have to show it to avail any facility which is only available to active taxpayers. So here we are showing you two very simple ways to check or verify; one is online and it needs a computer with valid internet connection while the other one only needs a mobile phone to verify.
Check Status of Income Tax Filers via SMS
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced an SMS service for verification of taxpayers' status. This SMS service may be used to check the Active Taxpayers List (ATL) for determining filer/non-filer.
This verification can be done by simply typing "ATL space 13 digits CNIC. NO without dashes" and sending it on “9966” from any mobile phone.
Check Status of Income Tax Filers Online
In addition to the above-mentioned way of Taxpayers verification via SMS, there is an online way of checking taxpayers status online through FBR website.
You can check it through the following method.
- Visit any of the following pages:
- Enter CNIC number without dashes in the field of Registration Number.
- Enter image characters and click on Submit button.
The status (Active or Inactive) will be shown on the same page instantly.
