School Students of Punjab will get Tablet Computers

Government of Punjab is now planning to distribute tablet computers among school students of Punjab province through a new scheme "Smart School System". These Tablet PCs will be given only to students of class 6 to 10 while students of primary classes will not be eligible for this scheme.

Provincial Education Minister of Punjab, Rana Mashood Ahmed said:
Punjab Government is formulating the project for large scale distribution of computers so the school students will get rid of heavy bags. He also said that all books included in the course of a class will be installed in the computers. Each Tablet PC would cost about PKR 5000. While talking with media he said that a British based firm and a software company has been shortlisted for the provision of these tablets. An agreement with these firms is expected very soon in the presence of CM Mian Shahbaz Sharif.

If this scheme launches successfully, it would be another trend-setting project by Govt. of Punjab like its laptop scheme, which has now also been adopted by the federal government of Pakistan.

These tablet computers will not only lessen heavy loads of school bags but can also be proved as a useful tool to teach important things through audios and videos. Science related topics may be taught through graphics, presentations and animations too. Interactive software may be helpful for easy understanding of difficult lessons. There are too many good possibilities…..

The success of this project depends upon preparation of course, easy to use software and durable hardware.

Government has decided to launch Smart School System in Punjab.
